Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to take a moment to remind you of the importance of keeping sick children home from school, especially as we are seeing an increasing number of gastrointestinal (GI) illnesses affecting both students and staff. These illnesses can spread quickly, and it is essential that we all take precautions to help keep our school community healthy.
If your child is experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or stomach pain, they should remain at home until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication. Following our Sick for School Protocol, children should not return to school until they are well enough to participate fully in daily activities.
To help prevent the spread of illness, please remind your child to:
• Wash their hands frequently with soap and water.
• Avoid sharing food, drinks, or personal items.
• Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow.
• Stay home when feeling unwell.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school a safe and healthy place for all students and staff. If you have any questions or need further guidance, please feel free to contact the school nurse’s office.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Megan Smith- Elementary School Nurse
Shannon Williams- Early Childhood, Middle and High School Nurse
