Hello HPSD Tigers,
Our Director of Counseling & Community Outreach, Dr. Brandy Yarbrough, and I are planning a community event, Connections Summit, that is open to Hancock Place, Affton, Bayless, Mehlville, and Lindbergh families, including staff and their families. It is scheduled for April 20, 2024, from 9:30am to 1pm. This will be the inaugural for such an event, so we have created the structure and plans to the best of our abilities. The purpose is to provide attendees with resources, learning opportunities, and networking. Please read the below for more information.
In summary, we will have opportunities for and/or relevant to all age groups, including but not limited to:
Gym: Opening with Introductions and the College Fair tables
Cafeteria: Job/Career Fair tables; spaces for on the spot interviews if desired
Cafeteria: MOCHIP for child identification packets for all ages who wish to participate and is being facilitated by the Craftsman Lodge
Library: Childcare available for those who are potty trained through 11 years of age
Classrooms on the lower level: Breakout presentations to include various topics falling under Money Management (budgeting, credit repair, and banking/investments); Parenting/Community Support (Internet Safety, Parent Support, Programming and Support, ELL Family Support, and College and Career Prep); and Mental Health/Substance Abuse (Drugs/Mental Health, Mental Health First Aid, CHADS, and other Counseling Agencies)
Hallways: Tables for Various Vendors such as Feed My People, The Housing Partnership, St. Louis County Library, Various Pantries, Agencies, St. Martha's, South County Tech, and others are all possibilities.
It is a FREE event for attendees, presenters, vendors, etc. We will have concessions set up for those who are interested.
I attached a flyer, including a QR code that will link to information regarding the event, such as: colleges, companies, vendors, childcare, MOCHIP, and other opportunities available. Updates will be made so that information is current.
Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas. We would appreciate your participation and support.
